Arrest of Paul Rusesabagina
Paul Rusesabagina is famous for saving more than 1,200 Rwandans during the 1994 Rwandan genocide. The genocide was a mass slaughter of Tutsi, Twa, and moderate Hutus in which between 500 thousand and 1 million people were killed.
In the past few years, Paul Rusesabagina has become a political enemy of Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame. These tensions now resulted in the arrest of Mr. Rusesabagina through international cooperation on charges that include terrorism, murder, and arson.
