Border conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan possibly resolved

On Monday, Armenia’s prime minister Nikol Pashinyan signed an agreement which is supposed to end the border conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Armenia will have to surrender the disputed territories. Armenian forces in these areas are supposed to pull out. They will be replaced by Russian peacekeepers. Russia was also the country which helped to negotiate the deal to end the war. However, only a few hours after the announcement was made public, people started protesting in Armenia’s capital city, Yerevan.

France and Austria meet to discuss antiterrorism measures

This Tuesday the French President Emmanuel Macron and the Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz met in Paris. In recent weeks there have been terror attacks in both France and Austria.

European Union Updates

Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the European Union agreed that they would aim for a final settlement to be made by December 31st this past Sunday. On Monday, the European Commission announced that of its staff, 179 members have tested positive for the coronavirus since the outbreak first started at the beginning of the year.

War between Azerbaijan and Armenia

Although there have been conflicts between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh region in the past, the conflict recently escalated. Both sides are now using armed drones and wide-reaching rocket artillery, which has resulted in the death of at least 250 people, most of whom were civilians. What has escalated matters even more is that Turkey has expressed its support of Azerbaijan.

Chaos breaks out in Kyrgyzstan

Opposition groups seized the control of the Parliament on Tuesday. Not soon afterwards, they released their leaders from prison, in response to parliamentary elections they claim were manipulated.

War breaks out between Azerbaijan and Armenia

On Sunday the 29th of September fighting broke out between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the province of Nagorno-Karabakh. The border running through the province was already a point of dispute between the two countries in the past. Now, the renewed outbreak of fighting has turned into the largest clash between the two countries since 2016, with both countries describing the conflict as “war.”

President Trump tests positive for the coronavirus

Early on Friday morning President Trump announced that both he and the First Lady of the United States of America had tested positive for the coronavirus.

Europe imposes sanctions on Belarus

After only watching and criticizing the Belarusian President’s supposed cheating in the recent elections, the European Union has now taken action. The EU agreed on sanctions after Cyprus agreed in exchange for penalties to be imposed on Turkey to enter negotiation talks with Cyprus and Greece for Turkey’s energy exploitation of Greek and Cyprusian waters.
